Tencent is undoubtedly one of the largest companies in the world; it continues to grow every day. Their goal this time was a studio from England; They’re buying Sumo for $1.27 billion.
As we know, tencent has a lot of gaming companies that it buys or partners with. Reuters reported that 100,000 people were killed in the Sumo is also set to be on the list as the newest of these. The agreement came immediately after Tencent’s attempt to merge two separate gaming streaming sites in China (Huya and DouYu) was rejected by the Chinese government under antitrust regulations.
Tencent, currently the 2nd highest-grossing company in the gaming world after Sony, has made another significant move by acquiring Sumo, which is also developing Sackboy: A Big Adventure, one of ps5’s debut games.
There are also statements from the Sumo front that they are happy with the deal. “The opportunity to work with Tencent was an opportunity we couldn’t miss,” says Carl Cavers, the firm’s founder. You never know what the next few days will bring. We will see together in the coming period whether they continue in their old ways or if there will be a change.
So another company has come under the wing of one of the greats of the gaming world, let’s see which studio will be next.
