Tencent today announced that it has acquired a majority stake in Swedish game developer Stunlock Studios.
While the studio has the strategic support of Tencent, it will continue to create games without any changes to its business structure.
Founded in Skövde in 2010, Stunlock Studios has developed games such as Bloodline Champions, Dead Island: Epidemic and, most recently, Battlerite Royale.
The companies began their partnership in 2016 with the launch of Battlerite in China.
Tencent had a minority stake in the developer since 2019.
“It is an honor to represent the world’s largest gaming company from the small Swedish town of Skövde,” said Rickard Frisegård, CEO of Stunlock Studios.
