About 500 new and former Ubisoft employees from 32 studios signed an open letter supporting both Activision Blizzard employees and urging Ubisoft to take the same steps. As you may recall, Ubisoft was rocked by scandals last year involving inappropriate behavior, and it seems employees still find Ubisoft’s attitude towards events more inadequate.
“We hear your voice to activision Blizzard employees and express our solidarity with you aloud. This week, the gaming industry once again shook with the emergence of what has long been known to many of us. That’s what they heard about Ubisoft a year ago.
Looking at the number of reports received, it is seen that such behaviors are widely spread and accepted as culture within the sector. This should not surprise anyone anymore; employees, managers, journalists, players should know that these behaviors continue. We need to stop being shocked. To prevent them, we must demand that real steps be taken. Those responsible must be held accountable.”
Ubisoft management was also charged with the remainder of the letter. The administration was said to have acted only for the “most exposed criminals,” while others were allowed to resign or transfer to other units. They also said they should be fired and asked for a seat at the table to get their opinions on how to behave in such situations from now on.
Let’s see when this butterfly effect spreads to the other studios.
