South Park, one of the most outlier shows in television history, will be a big deal in the new era. Trey Parker and Matt Stone have signed a huge contract with MTV, securing south park’s future for the next six years. While the series we’re used to is moving on, 14 South Park movies will be released on Paramount+. Moreover, two of these films are coming out this year.
With the announcement from MTV, it has been officially confirmed that South Park will remain on Comedy Central. In 2022, we will watch the iconic 25th season of the show. South Park will be in its 30th season in 2027, the final year of the deal. Chris McCarthy, president of adult animation at MTV, said, “Matt and Trey are creative names around the world, and we’re thrilled to extend and deepen our relationship with them. Together, we will work on new IPs while making South Park a bigger brand. Of course, Matt and Trey will be at the heart of our strategy.” and made us even more excited.
“Comedy Central hasbeen our home for 25 years,” came a playful statement from the South Park front. We’re so happy to be together for the next 75 years. Because of the pandemic, we followed different methods. But now we can’t wait to make South Park sections the traditional way. We will also try new formats, it is a great privilege to work with a partner who gives us a chance in every sense.” Parker and Stone are looking forward to the comeback. We already have a lot of South Park content waiting for us over the next 6 years.
One of the most interesting points in this deal is that Paramount will create new brands with the duo. What could be more absurd than the heads south park has emerged from is a matter of great curiosity. At the end of the day, at least 30 seasons of South Park legend will be in television history, so maybe after 2027 we’ll see another deal. Because Trey Parker and Matt Stone seem obsessed with 75 years.
