Sony, which continued to strengthen its hand following Microsoft’s Move to Bethesda, has acquired Crunchyroll, which we know it has been pursuing for a long time. Crunchyroll, one of the world’s largest animation platforms, joined sony’s ranks for $1.175 billion.
This will make Crunchyroll a platform that can leverage all of Sony’s resources. Considering Funimation, which has been in the firm’s bag since 2017, it is possible to say that Sony is now in some kind of control of the world of “anime”. But it’s hard to predict whether Crunchyroll and Funimation will merge….
