Riot Games has fallen back into the grip of the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing, which has come under fire again for sexual harassment allegations against Activison-Blizzard. Riot Games faced a lawsuit from one of its former employees in 2018, alleging “discrimination based on male priority and sexism” and wage discrimination against female employees. Unlike blizzard, however, riot’s accusations at the time came up on a purely personal request.
Riot Games accused of delaying trial
Last month, a reddit member pointed outthat the department that was in the spotlight with the Blizzard case was actually the department that sued Riot in 2018 . Riot was said to have tried to solve the case on a personal basis and close it.
The charge against the firm behind two major brands, Leauge of Legends and Valorant, claimed the firm had “forgotten” for two months to tell its employees they had the right to speak out about “sexual harassment or other workplace problems.”
The California Department of Fair Employment and Housing said in a statement:
” A year after the government sued Riot for sexual harassment, discrimination, etc., the company announced that secret agreements had been reached with 100 women seeking their rights. For 18 months, our department has tried to reach the terms of this collusion. In January 2021, the court requested to know the terms of this agreement, but Riot delayed the process until April 2021. The court has asked Riot Games to inform them of the rights of its employees, but the company is delaying this process for 2 months”.
