Sony Interactive Entertainment continues to invest in its development team in Tokyo, according to PlayStation Studios boss Hermen Hulst.
Despite rumors to the contrary, Hulst tells Game Informer that Japanese games are the essence of Sony Interactive Entertainment’s identity. Hulst: “In some ways, I would say we are still a Japanese company. It’s our legacy. It’s still part of who we are. We love Japanese games.”
Hulst also commented on the restructuring of Sony Interactive Entertainment Japan Studio, known as Team ASOBI: “We are establishing the ASOBI Team under Nicolas Doucet. We’re actually investing in this team.”
Hulst added: “We continue to invest in the great teams we have. We are recruiting new developers. We try to focus on quality. We will continue to do so.”
Finally, Hulst noted that over 25 PlayStation 5 games have been developed within Sony Interactive Entertainment.
