Blasphemous is one of the most successful soulslike – metroidvania games of recent years for me, and I never neglect to praise it whenever I can. Last night, two news came out of Blasphemous, one of the genre’s best examples, with its visual style, incredible music and memorable storyline.
When Game Kitchen said they had an announcement for the night of August 26th, I honestly thought it was a sequel. But I also clearly didn’t expect the DLC to be announced, which was a very nice surprise.
The game will get a final expansion pack called Wounds of Eventide in December, offering a “real ending” for Blasphemous. This suggests that this is not an independent DLC but a main game plugin that will continue the direct story. That’s very good news.
Game Kitchen also announced that they have started working on the sequel and are aiming for 2023. While no details of the new game have been shared, it’s good to know that Blasphemous has achieved the feat it deserves and is satisfied with game kitchen sales.
