The first two episodes of “Chapter” were offered for free, with Toby Fox beginning to tell a parallel story to Undertale. In fact, the long-awaited second episode aired suddenly on September 17, and until then we had no knowledge of Chapter 2.
Fox remains a mystery for future episodes, with no release date set, but at least there’s information that it won’t be offering new episodes for free this time.
The first episode of Deltarune aired in October 2018, and the second episode took three years to develop.
“I originally planned to air all the episodes when they were all over, but to be honest, it’s hard for both creators and fans to spend a long time without broadcasting games. That’s why I changed my mind. I think a lot of people will be happy about that,” Fox said.
“My goal now is to finish Chapters 3, 4 and 5. When I do this, I will ask people to buy the game for the first five episodes (including 1 and 2). I don’t know the price yet, but I’m sure it’ll be more expensive than Undertale.”
Fox actually considered making Chapter 2 payable, but then gave it up, saying that “the times we’re already in are tough enough for everyone.” “I just have one request,” Fox says. If you can afford it, spend your savings by supporting other indie developers by getting this game for free.”
