Mobile game publisher Rovio has announced it will open a new studio in Toronto.
Rovio said the Toronto team will be interested in casual mobile games that are free to play, while at the same time expanding their offerings from the company’s existing studios.
Rovio also hired Julie Beaugrand as studio president and vice president of Rovio Toronto. He was previously studio president of Gameloft Toronto and Vice President of Gameloft’s North American studios.
In addition, the Toronto location will be Rovio’s second location in Canada; He opened the first one in Montreal last year.
