Sennheiser’s new products continue to be released one after the other. After the True Wireless 2 celebrated its high-end finish last month, this time we’re looking at a new model that’s both familiar and new.
It’s familiar, because as you can immediately notice, CX True Wireless is a new version of the CX 400BTthat we’ve reviewed and liked in recent months. Although they are now being sold together, the question immediately comes to mind as we expect the CX 400BT to be completely replaced after a while; Should CX 400BT owners aim for this model for upgrade?
We’ll have a long talk, but let’s start with the similarities and differences.
It’s not right to rate the CX series as entry-level or mid-range because it has models that appeal to both classes. The CX True Wireless is a model that takes the Air Podsdirectly to it. At first glance, both the charging case design and the design of the headphones feel the same as the CX 400BT, but there are a few small differences. The charging status light in the box was taken to the front and the chromed Sennheiser logos on both the top of the box and the headphones were replaced by plastic and more modest logos.
With its slightly large-looking drivers, the CX True Wireless comes in two different colors, black and white. Headphones, including Sennheiser’s TrueResponse drivers, fit well in the ear and don’t load much weight. They weigh less than 40 grams.
At this point, it is necessary to mention other differences. The first is its lifetime per headset. If you remember my CX 400BT review, I mentioned that I finished charging the headphones in 4 hours by listening to Sabaton like crazy, and the reference value of the Sennheiser was 7 hours, the result was perfectly normal. Sennheiser promises a nine-hour period by increasing battery strength in this model, which I managed to listen to for 6.5 hours straight. That’s a clear improvement. The total time you traveled with the charging case remained unchanged, again between 18-20 hours.
Another beauty that CX True Wireless brings with it is bluetooth 5.2 support and the LE Audio and LC3 codecs that will come with it. Even True Wireless 2 has BT5.1 support, so it’s a stylish choice. In contrast to the CX 400BT, the product is IPX4 certified. That way, he’s a little more suited to working out than before, but I don’t think you’re going to run on the beach with this headset. And when you get caught in the rain, you don’t have to worry too much anymore.

To see some of the innovations of CX True Wireless, you need to install the Sennheiser Smart Control program and upgrade the firmware version to version 1.6.8. You can now set the auto-off time and choose a codec. Unfortunately, Smart Control can’t connect to multiple headsets at the same time, so it takes a while to switch from one to the other, but this connection is also quite smooth. The equalizer section is ultra-functional and takes seconds to find the right setting for every ear.
CX True Wireless does not have active audio cutting (ANC) capability, but it does not have much problem with sound isolation. Settings such as sound settings, stop/resume, call answering are made over the capacitive surfaces of the headset. Unlike True Wireless 2, when you take the headset out of your ear, it doesn’t notice and stop the music, but it’s not what we expect from the price level.
Now to the quality of the music. CX True Wireless has strong bass, very clear trebles and a pleasant midwife. In general, we have a product that saturates the music you listen to and in doing so is as little affected as possible by signal interference in crowded areas. Whatever you call a microphone, I’d say it’s as good as you’d expect, but I don’t think you’re going to try to play PUBG with it.
We have explained in detail, but to summarize, CX True Wireless is not a necessary upgrade for CX 400BT owners. The recommended sales price of the product is 1379 TL. After months of inflation, record-breaking foreign exchange and overall cost of living, it’s no bad sign that it’s staying at the same level as the CX 400BT. If the ANC isn’t important to you (I don’t think it should be) and the amount you devote to it matches, it’s a very ambitious model, the CX True Wireless.
