Dota 2 International 2021, which is scheduled to start later this week, will be held as an online event, not a physical one, within the scope of coronavirus measures. Announcing the imminent end of Dota 2 32-bit support in its September announcement of The International 2021, Valve announced in a blog post yesterday that the event will be held digitally due to the increasing number of Covid 19 cases in Romania. Ticket holders will be automatically refunded.
Dota 2 International 2021 will take place online
The Dota 2 event, which begins on Thursday (October 7th) was expected to be held in Bucharest. Valve issued the following statement:
” We couldn’t ask for more than to meet Dota 2 fans face-to-face at this event, but it no longer seems possible to do so without endangering everyone’s health. We were carefully monitoring the situation of Covid-19 cases in Romania and the newly implemented restrictions in Bucharest.”
Valve continued:
“We have decided to refund all tickets for The International 2021 so as not to jeopardize the safety of our cast, fans and production team attending the event.”
Valve announced that The International 2021 will start on September 7th as planned and that they are looking forward to the online event, where the best Dota teams in the world will compete.
