FIFA, the world soccer’s governing governing party, issued its own statement following Electronic Arts’ announcements last week, saying they were open to working with new video game companies outside EA.
In a statement titled “FIFA is ready to expand its portfolio of games and esports,”FIFA says it is very optimistic in the long run from the world of gaming and esports and uses a phrase directly aimed at EA: “For football stakeholders, the future of gaming and esports should have more than one side that holds and exploits all rights”
Having a FIFA license is a blessing for developers and publishers who want to develop a football game. So far, only EA has benefited from this blessing, but the long agreement between FIFA and EA will end with the 2022 Qatar FIFA World Cup.
EA announced plans to change the name of FIFA. Maybe he wanted to strengthen his hand against FIFA with this statement, but FIFA’s statement that “we are already tired of this one-sided work” makes it very difficult for us to see the special union between EA and FIFA at this point.
In short, you should be ready for EA Sports FC games soon. The question is if other developers who will sign with FIFA will be able to make games with a name like “FIFA 23”. That’s when the atmosphere mixes well 🙂
