Ubisoft has announced the release of Discovery Tour: Viking Age, an educational game that allows everyone to explore and interact with the history and traditions of the Viking world. Discovery Tour: Viking Age is free for all Assassin’s Creed Valhalla players. Discovery Tour: Viking Age’s standalone PC version is available via Ubisoft Connect and from the Epic Games Store for €19.99. Also Xbox One, Xbox Series S | A standalone version for X, PlayStation®4, PlayStation®5, Stadia and Amazon Luna will arrive in 2022.
Discovery Tour: Viking Age for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is out now
Discovery Tour: Ancient Egypt and Discovery Tour: After Ancient Greece, Discovery Tour: Viking Age is a whole new chapter in this world-based training experience series developed for Assassin’s Creed. Players of all ages will experience a unique interactive experience where they can learn about the history, traditions and famous people of the Viking and Anglo-Saxon worlds. Discovery Tour: Viking Age changes the formula for the first time, putting narrative and interaction at the center of the experience. Two new creative methods, “History through stories” and “learning by doing,” make the experience even more memorable and engaging than previous chapters. With a new story adventure structured around eight missions, players will have the opportunity to embody the Viking and Anglo-Saxon characters of the time and take part in their ninth-century adventures. This interactive narrative takes players to the snowy lands of Norway, the magnificent landscapes of England and the legendary kingdoms of Jotunheim and Asgard.

We designed Discovery Tour: Viking Age to be both fun as a video game and effective as a learning tool.” Developed in close collaboration with historians, renowned archaeologists and academics, Discovery Tour: Viking Age is an up-to-date source of information for those who want to know more about the period. With 150 important historical events of the true history of the Viking Age, discovery sites allow players to learn more about the Viking Age: war and politics, daily life, religion and magic, myths and legends, science, law and justice, art and culture, commerce and economics.
Discovery Tour: Viking Age also offers all Assassin’s Creed Valhalla fans 11 exclusive rewards that can be unlocked in the main game, 25 behind-the-scenes stations and 24 reconnaissance characters related to the development of the main game.
Both because teachers and students may not be familiar with video games, and to help use video games in the context of education, Ubisoft has developed curriculum guides that work in partnership with Montréal McGill University and offer activities and lesson plans customized to the level of students with a grant from Mitacs.
