From the moment the film is released, Dune makes faces both critically and at the box office. Director Denis Villenueve, who had previously announced that the sequel would definitely come if it was successful, was a man of his word. And the sequel was confirmed before the film even came out of seven. Probably even the opening box office alone encouraged Warner Bros v eLegendary toact immediately. With the announcement of the sequel, the release date was one. I mean, the studio’s already made preparations a long time ago, and the “if it’s successful” part is a little bit of a fan-in-the-moment. This strategy worked, too.
“This is just the beginning. Thanks to everyone who has experienced Dune so far and those who will see it in the coming days or weeks. We are excited that the adventure will continue.” Legendary was the first to announce the sequel. The Warner Brothers will still be involved in the second film, but reports suggest that legendary has budgeted for about 80 percent of the first film. Naturally, we don’t know how to split the profits that the film brings. Legendary may want a more even distribution this time, but Warner Bros doesn’t seem to be playing the wrong horse.
On October 20, 2023, we’ll embark on another trip to Desert Planet. It’s too early to ask which actors from the first film will remain in the cast and who will be added. But we know that denis villenueve will be back in the director’s chair if there’s no major setback. I hope that the success of the first film will continue and we will have a new cinematic sci-fi universe like a ball of light, because the old ones are starting to get a little boring now…
