Back 4 Blood, released under a very similar name by Turtle Rock Studios, the creator of the original Left 4 Dead, is a game that applies the Left 4 Dead formula today. Again, there’s a team of four, again moving from point A to point B, while you’re battling hordes of zombies. However, it seems that the release of Back 4 Blood has mostly benefited Left 4 Dead 2 because the number of players returning to the game is not to be underestimated.
In fact, the 12-year-old Left 4 Dead 2 outperforms Back 4 Blood, both instant and daily, as you can see below:
I just got the image myself, maybe the number of instant players has changed a little bit now, but the difference is around 3,500. Peaks in the last 24 hours have seen a difference of up to 10,000 players. Left 4 Dead 2 is by far the leading all-time peak in simultaneous players.
Left 4 Dead 2 also lowered its price as part of the Halloween discounts, which could have an impact on player numbers.
