Unity has signed an agreement to acquire VFX platform Weta Digital.
Weta was co-founded by director Peter Jackson. He was responsible for digital design and animation in some of the world’s biggest series, including The Lord of The Rings, Avengers and Game of Thrones.
The settlement price was set at $1.62 billion.
Weta CEO Prem Akkaraju will remain in his post. Weta CTO Joe Marks will join Unity, but will retain the same job title.
