When one of the costumes in the new Battlefield 2042 faced a Ukrainian backlash, the battlefield’s official account announced that the name would be changed with the first update.
One of the characters in the play was Russian-born Pyotr ‘Boris’ Guskovsky; one of his unlockable costumes was called Little Green Man, or Little Green Man. Now you can say what’s in it, for those who are foreign to the war between Ukraine and Russia, it doesn’t really mean much. In fact, dice calls the costume because it’s green camouflage, and Boris is a big soldier. You know how big guys get nicknames like little, little, little, and that’s what comes out of that name?
Russia has sent units to the region with no markings on them to annex Crimea, which lies within Ukraine’s borders. These soldiers were not carrying flags, nor were they wearing uniforms or vehicles with a descriptive mark, and they had entered Ukraine and captured various strategic areas, including the Crimean parliament. Since these soldiers using Russian equipment did not carry any decisive signs, Putin was able to say “no, we have nothing to do with this, they are local separatists”.
Russia later acknowledged that these were elite special forces, but Crimea had already been annexed, and thanks to Russian supporters in the region, Crimea joined Russia in an unconstitutional referendum. The region is still a serious area of tension for Ukraine and Russia.
And guess what these “unmarked” soldiers were called? yes, little green men 🙂
The description of the official Battlefield account is as follows:
“Today you informed us of the name we used for Boris’s costume. This name was unintentionally referous to a real-life problem, and it certainly does not reflect the values of our team. We will change this name with the next update, thank you for drawn our attention to this issue.”
