A new expansion pack called No Step Back has been released for the World War II-themed grand strategy game Hearts of Iron IV, which has officially become a drug for the game’s player numbers. According to SteamDB data, Hearts of Iron IV surpassed 68,000 players for the first time since its release five years ago, setting a simultaneous player record.
The previous record was 46,806 players in February 2019. So all of a sudden, there’s a difference of over 20,000 players. Even now, about 35,000 players are playing the game.
Paradox is a successful name for expansion packs, and No Step Back is new proof of that. Hearts of Iron IV is already Paradox’s most popular strategy game and still manages to increase the number of players. According to Paradox, sales of the No Step Back expansion pack are also very good.
