China intends to take a much more active position in the gaming industry in the coming years. They’ve already come a long way with Tencent’s moves. In recent years, they have also managed to make a name for themselves with many games. There are also highly anticipated Chinese games in the coming period.
But there’s another side to the medallion. The way they make a lot of plays doesn’t always mean success, of course. Chinese game developers have also been targeted by plagiarism claims many times during this mass production process. One of them is Angela Game, the developer of Myth of Empires. Myth of Empires, which was released early in October, has now been removed from Steam. The reason for the request to remove the game from Steam is; the claim that this game was made with the source code of Ark: Survival Evolved.
Angela Game is a studio founded in 2020 (in her own statement, this is 2019). They announced Myth of Empires in December last year and make the game available early after 10 months. They also say that 70% of the game is complete and available in early access. So in such a short time, they managed to make a game of this magnitude. Of course, it’s only natural to be skeptical of this painting. This must have caught the attention of Studio Wildcard, the developer of Ark: Survival Evolved, who needed a closer look at this game. As a result, they discovered serious similarities to their own games.
Studio Wildcard officials said: “We’re not going to let this happen. He says a former employee of roofing company Snail Games founded Angela Game, which had access to Ark: Survival Evolved’s source code while at Snail Games, so its own source code was stolen and used in Myth of Empires. They also underlined that the exact same mechanics of the two games completely ruled out the possibility of coincidence.
Myth of Empires has issued a statement saying that “the reports and allegations made do not reflect the truth.” But as a result, the game has obviously been taken off sale on Steam. Let’s see what happens in the coming days, we’re on the look-after.
