Bohemia Interactive has unveiled Enfusion, the next generation game engine it will use in its new games. Enfusion will not only enhance the visuality of games, but will also feature multi-platform operation, user-friendly options for gamers, and conveniences for mod creators.
Bohemia’s been working on this engine for four years. Bohemia’s famous games include the Arma series and DayZ.
Bohemia was founded 22 years ago and has consistently used its own game engine ever since. The team explains that this is because no game engine on the market is sufficient for the games they want to create, and cites simulations with detailed physics rules in open worlds on a massive scale that players and their communities can easily customize.
“In this respect, nothing has changed. However, the Reach Virtuality engine we used in Arma 3 is obsoleted and we are starting to get caught up in technological limitations,” the team says.
