Earlier this month, strategy game Myth of Empires was removed from Steam following a DMCA (intellectual property) request by Studio Wildcard, the developer of Ark: Survival Evolved, and its publisher, Snail Games. It’s reportedly due to the retrievion of Ark source code.
Myth of Empires has a former Snail Games employee on it. The employee allegedly stole these source codes before leaving Snail Games to start his own studio. As of this process, copyright holders are resorting to the DMCA to have the game taken off the air. The game is being removed from Steam after a while.
Angela Game, the developer of Myth of Empires, denied all these allegations and filed a countersuit. Angela Game stated that the content of the evidence presented by Snail Games was a misrepresentation.
Angela Game wants the game re-released on Steam and compensated for the damage in the process.
On the other hand, the development of the game is ongoing and new features are scheduled to be released soon. More recently, a new program is reportedly being worked on to reduce cheating in the game. Myth of Empires was released as an early access on October 2.
