The iot Games case has been settled. Riot, which has been suing since 2018, has agreed to pay $100 million in damages. Riot Games was accused of promoting sexismwithin the firm. Riot, who has long denied the allegations, and the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing, which also sued Blizzard this summer, reached an agreement.
Riot Games case costs firm dearly
Under the agreement between the parties, employees allegedly discriminated against will be paid $80 million. Riot also has to pay $20 million to cover the plaintiffs’ legal fees. The contract signed by both sides will be sent to court for approval. Kotaku first announced the news of the “culture of sexism” within Riot Games in 2018.
Riot’s employees include 1,65 female employees and 1,300 contracted female employees who have worked at the firm since November 2014. Those who have worked at the firm for longer will be paid a larger amount. Riot has also signed off on conditions in the contract text, such as implementing workplace reforms and allowing third-party firms to oversee payment systems.
Riot said in a press release that they were very pleased with the way the company has traveled since 2018.
