In an interview with VGC, Silent Hill creator Keiichiro Toyama talked about the possibility of remaking the original game. Toyama said it’s much harder to make a remake of a Silent Hill game than resident evil.
“It’s much harder to remake than Resident Evil because it’s older as a concept,” toyama said, responding to the question of whether capcom sees the Silent Hill remake from Konami on its success with resident evil remake versions. These are not action games where you can get away with renewing the action, as in Resident Evil. Silent Hill doesn’t satisfy fans” fans to raise it to today’s standards or polish its graphics.
“It’s not just about that, it’s about how beautiful it is. You should also rethink the concept to appeal to fans,” Toyoma said, explaining that he is generally keen on the concept of remake. Toyama says that games are difficult to enjoy in their original form, as opposed to movies, and that over time, game mechanics have lost their usefulness and visually they lag far behind modern devices.
Toyama left SIE Japan Studio last year to found Bokeh Game Studio. Slitterhead will be their first game, as we watch the trailer for the TGA.
