American lineup KPI Gaming was the favorite team at the opening of their Weekly Finals. They secured a 68, the highest of the weekend, and a crucial win in Game 9 as they climbed to the top of the leaderboard. European squad HEROIC’s Pag3 stood out as one of the strongest performers as it coolly eliminated its opponents on the map, and Team Liquid’s Jeemzz gave viewers a memorable moment with a performance in which he outsmpowered four opponents while resisting heavy pressure.
On the second weekend of the event, Team Liquid, which climbed to the top and secured a place in the Grand Finals, performed significantly. Both Team Liquid and Asia-based GNL ESPORTS finished at level points, and the tie bracket rule came into play to separate the two. They were followed by european team Virtus.pro, who scored 48 at the weekend.
Asian team Gen.G won three games in the Weekly Finals with 64 points and 119 points, giving them a place in the main event. European team Natus Vincere finished second with two very good wins, 57 points and 88 points. NewHappy (Asia), Global Esports Xsset (Asia), Dignitas (America) and Heroic (Europe) also won significant victories. One of the highlights of the weekend was Dignitas defeating Natus Vincere in a 3v4 match in which his opponents had the field advantage.
The last four places for grand finals were Fury (Asia/Pacific), TSM (America), KAIXIN E-Sports (Asia) and Petrichor Road (Asia) at the Grand Survival stage on Thursday 16 December.
