We know that Sony is currently working on its own version of Game Pass. Sony plans to merge its PlayStation Now and PS Plus systems, and this new system, codenamed Spartacus, will likely come to life in the spring of this year.
Thanks to this new system, players will be able to access many old-new games in the catalog for a certain subscription fee, just like in Game Pass.
When asked what he thought of Xbox boss Phil Spencer, he said: “I don’t want it to sound like we’ve figured it out, but I think the right answer lies in giving your consumers the chance to play wherever they want to play the games they want to play, to create their libraries as they wish. So when I hear that others are also making attempts like Game Pass or PC;
“We have to keep innovating, we have to keep competing because what we’re doing may have given us an advantage today, but it’s not just because we’re the first, it’s because we’re doing something that others can’t,” Spencer said, adding that Sony’s adoption of a Game pass-like strategy is an inevitable goal, not a confirmation that Microsoft’s approach is right.
I honestly think Spencer really enjoyed this initiative, it can’t be bad for anyone if the players have access to more games more appropriately.
