EA and DICE seem to have finished with the Battlefront series. Sources told VentureBeatthat DICE will continue to focus on Battlefield 2042instead of developing Star Wars: Battlefront 3.
Last year, Tom Henderson said battlefront 3 would not be developed. Henderson, citing its own sources, said DICE had submitted plans for Battlefront 3 to EA; but EA did not approve the idea because of licensing costs.
Instead of developing new games, DICE is focused on developing Battlefield 2042. This newest game in the series has less content than previous games, so it needs to be fed with new content. EA also plans to make parts of the game free to play (it could be portals, for example). EA’s third quarter reports will be released in early February, and if there is such a plan, we will find out in a statement to investors.
