Now we know that when a new Pokemon game comes out, sales data will be unimaginable for a large number of games. Years later, with a really different Pokemon game, the long-awaited Pokemon Legends: Arceus also had a fantastic opening week. Arceus, which officially went on sale last Friday, managed to sell six and a half million copies in its first week. This data also made Arceus the fastest-opening Pokemon game on behalf of the Nintendo Switch.
Unlike the classic Pokemon formula, arceus deserved this opening, this time with steam Poketops, hand-held Pokedex logbook and many other features in the past. But when it comes to Pokemon, the numbers are more or less similar. Switch’s two previous Pokemon games, Sword &shield and Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl, also sold six million copies in their opening weeks. While xbox and playstation competition is a bit of a highlight when it comes to original games, Nintendo is reminding almost every brand of its place in the industry in its new game.
Arceus has sold over 6.5 million games, including Metroid Dread, Mario Party Superstars and The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD, released by Nintendo in 2021. It’s in your power not to take your hat off in front of pikachu. Let’s see how close Arceus sales can get to Red/Green/Blue, which stands in an incredible place with around 31.5 million copies sold after this sensational week.
