Dune, one of the most special films of 2021, is set to crown its great success at the Oscars. Dune, which is based on Warner Bros and Legendary, has been nominated for ten Oscars. Interestingly, however, the film’s director Denis Villenueve was not nominated for best director. Dune’s nominations include categories such as best picture, best visual effects and best editing.
Previously released in 2015, Mad Max: Fury Road was also nominated in ten categories and won an Oscar in the lower division.
Dune is nominated for:
- Best Original Screenplay
- Best Original Soundtrack
- Best Sound
- Best Costume Design
- Best Editing
- Best Makeup and Hair
- Best Visual Effects
- Best Production Design
- Best Image Management
- Best Film
The Warner Brothers had shown all the films released in 2021 simultaneously on HBO Max. Despite this, Dune generated around $400 million at the box office, paving the way for a sequel. Denis Villenueve, who was not nominated this time, was last nominated for best film and best director for arrival, which was released in 2016.
