Capcom has officially announced Street Fighter 6, but its logo has already been the subject of controversy.
Capcom said he would release details about the game in the summer, then showed the game’s first teaser trailer. In this trailer we also saw the logo of the game, and this logo was very different from the logo that we are used to seeing in the series. The letters S and F, placed in a hexagon, were accompanied by the number 6.
The new logo caught the attention of Aurich Lawson, creative director of Ars Technica, because it was almost identical to the stock image sold for $80 on the Adobe Stock Image website.
“The new Street Fighter 6 logo sells for $80 on Adobe;’s Stock site,” Lawson said. I don’t even know what to say. I knew it was ordinary, but I didn’t realize it was this bad. They searched for SF on the stock logo site, rounded a few corners and added the number 6.”
The Adobe Stock Image image, called “SF FS logo design vector template”, is not one-on-one with the SF6 logo. The hexagon used in Capcom’s logo is thinner and some corners are rounded. But when you pay $80 and get this template, you’re already given an AI/EPS file that you can play on in Adobe Illustrator.
Remember, Capcom resident evil village came up with something similar. Most of the visuals and effects used in the game turned out to be taken from an artist’s porf, and the artist accused Capcom of theft.
If you’re wondering what the outcome of that incident was, Capcom and Judy A. Juracek recently reconciled, capcom probably paid him a lot of royalties. Fortunately, this time they saved it with $80, street fighter; 🙂
