Dark Souls will remain offline until Elden Ring is released, at least on the PC platform. Dark Souls servers will remain closed until The Ring is released due to security and connectivity issues with Dark Souls PC versions that were raised about a month ago with a vulnerability in Dark Souls 3 PVP servers. Bandani Namco and From Software issued a joint statement.

It was stated that the aforementioned vulnerability could lead to hackers gaining access to the computers of Dark Souls players. Bandai Namco thanked the players for their feedback and reports and announced that they had decided to keep the Dark Souls servers closed for some time as a result of the reviews.
One reddit user noticed the vulnerability months ago and wrote a post about it on Reddit. However, bandai namco developers are aware of this vulnerability and have not taken precautions until the incident is reported to publishers. Bandai Namco has even allegedly failed to fix a similar vulnerability in 2020.
Dark Souls servers will reopen as soon as possible following the release of Elden Ring.
