FIFA 23 aims to stay one step ahead of its opponent with crossplay. Konami’s eFootball PES 2021 , released last year, announced crossplay mode, which allows co-playing on many platforms. In this way, PS5 users would be able to fight against those on the PC or those on the other platform. However, eFootball PES 2021 was slammed, especially after poor work in visual designs, preventing it from sticking to the company’s calendar.
FIFA can include 23 crossplay and two World Cup events
EA’s flagship series was updated after the broadcaster issued a press release in October 2021 saying it was reviewing its licensing agreement with FIFA.
According to internal sources, one of the biggest changes to this year’s FIFA title will be the first crossplay feature in the history of the series, bringing FIFA players together on PlayStation, Xbox and PC platforms for all game modes.
In addition, FIFA 23 will include both the men’s and women’s World Cups, and EA will expand its licensing partnership across all major leagues to create and guide a single FIFA experience that brings men and women together.
Improvements have also been made to the new Hypermotion Technology, which was first introduced in FIFA 22. The technology has been improved tenfold and now eliminates the need for Xsens teams by allowing the development team to capture animations from real players in real matches using stadium cameras.
The change resulted in the team being able to collect 100 times more data in a single league season than they have ever captured in the entire 29-year history of production.
While all this will be important for the series, the biggest question is still whether EA will abandon the FIFA brand, the recent trademark applications suggest this may be the case, and EA chooses to call the series ‘EASports FC’. Nevertheless, FIFA 23 crossplay is a move expected by many gamers like us.
