GTA Online, the multiplayer mode of Grand Theft Auto 5, comes to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X as a standalone game on March 15. Rockstar Games has detailed new features for new players and new types of racing coming to the “expanded and improved” GTA Online, including a new Career Builder.
Faster cars for newcomers to GTA Online
New players will also learn the game with 4 million GTA dollars to spend on property, vehicles and weapons, and Career Builder mode, which provides a newly designed introduction and training.
If you’re not new to GTA Online, there are innovations to offer. You’ll be able to move your online characters to PS5 and Xbox Series X via Rockstar Games Social Club, and upgrade their existing tools in Los Santos Car Meet and Hao’s Special Works. Hao’s Special Works will unlock new vehicle upgrades, a new racing class, and weekly time trials. Players can test newly modified (and faster) cars for free.
Rockstar said the transition from previous generation consoles to new consoles includes all characters, GTA dollars, progress, statistics, tools, properties, weapons, clothes, and player-generated jobs. While gamers can move progress between console generations and platforms, Rockstar warns that GTA$ will only be moved when done on the same console brand (that is, from PlayStation 4 to PlayStation 5).
GTA Online will be available for free download on PlayStation 5 for the first three months after its March 15 launch. Physical versions of Grand Theft Auto 5 and Grand Theft Auto Online arrive on PS5 and Xbox Series X in April.
