For DC fans, there’s been a general frustration on the big screen for too long. The Warner Brothers can’t bring the dozens of enormous characters they have to the big screen. The Batman film, directed by Matt Reeves, may not have been perfect, but to me, it was well above the overall DCEU bar. The film’s success also hit the box office, with The Batman earning about $250 million in box office revenue from its opening weekend alone.
With $248.5 million in revenue, The Batman was the best-starting film of 2022. In the two-year period that spanned the pandemic period, only Spider-Man: No Way Home managed to get off to a better start. The Batman, which has already put a quarter of a million dollars in the vault, is likely to exceed the $1 billion threshold, even though it’s only been three days since its release. Matt Reeves, who says he has stories to tell for sequels, can be bolder with the power he gets at the box office.
Warner Brothers, which also aired all of its films on HBO Max in 2021, was frustrated at the box office. This success, which comes after shelving this project completely in 2022, may mean that they will never pursue such a policy again. After that, all WB movies will be available to watch on HBO Max just 46 days after the release date. If you don’t want to go to the movies, in 43 days, The Batman will be just a click away.
