The auto-battler game Storybook Brawl Steam, which is free to play, was bombarded with disastrous reviews and the game’s notes went down instead.
In fact, Storybook Brawl may not be such a great game, but it still scored around 70 reviews on Steam. Review scores over the past 30 days have now dropped to 17%, which means extremely negative.
This is because cryptocurrency exchange FTX US last week acquired Good Luck Games, the developer of Storybook Brawl; and said it sees the acquisition as “an opportunity for ethical integration of gaming and crypto trading.” This means that Storybook Brawl will inevitably be added blockchain technology, possibly converted to Play2Earn in the game. Although matt place, the studio’s founder, said the change would be “ethical” and “fun for the players,” the actors didn’t believe it.
Games that are normally free to play can be reviewed by anyone, so it’s easier to bombard them. But when you look at the latest reviews, you see that most of them come from users who have spent tens, in some cases, over a hundred hours on the game.
No matter how much they love the game, most of them have announced that they will quit as soon as it is announced that crypto exchange and perhaps NFT will be involved.
For example, a player who has spent more than 900 hours on the game said, “This was a good game… Until the NFT gets involved.”
Steam;in’s rules have strict statements against games that use NFT and blockchain technology, so it is considered certain that the game will be removed from Steam if it goes down this path.
