Wargaming, known for hugely popular games played by millions of people, such as World of Tanks and World of Warships, has decided to withdraw completely from Russia and Belarus. The company also said it expects to suffer significant losses as a result of this decision.
The description from Wargaming reads:
“For the last few weeks, Wargaming has been strategically reviewing our worldwide operations. As a company, we decided not to have a business in Russia and Belarus and not to do business.
As of March 31, the company has transferred all its live gaming business in Russia and Belarus to the management of Lesta Studio, which is no longer associated with Wargaming. Our company will not make a profit from this transaction today or after. On the contrary, we anticipate that we will suffer serious losses as a direct impact of this decision.
We will complete the operational transition with great speed, while ensuring the safety of our employees while complying with all laws. During the transition period, our live products will be available in Russia and Belarus and will be operated by their new owners.
Wargaming also initiated the process of closing its studio in Minsk.
All employees affected by this change will be compensated and our employees will be supported as much as we can.”
Wargaming has about 1,750 employees worldwide.
