Senua’s new adventure Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II is one of the productions that has been in development for a long time. Only a few videos have been released for the game, which Ninja Theory announced at the end of 2019, and there are still many question marks over the progress. However, when we look at the explanations made about the game, we see that the team is quite ambitious.
‘We’re raising the bar on the Hellblade II fighting system’
One of those explanations was made by Juan Fernández, who was in charge of the game’s fighting dynamics. Fernández stated that they made big changes compared to the first game and that they raised the bar considerably with the fighting system. The producer who had an interview with vandal made a statement about the game as follows;
“We did a lot of things well in the new game, but I think there are a lot of things that can be improved and that we will change. You should not forget that the team working on Senua’s first adventure was incredibly small for such a project, often with about 15 people in the studio.
What I was least satisfied with in Hellblade 1 was the lack of variety of enemies, the absence of long-term battles, the way the difficulty systems were set up, the fact that the enemies had too many lives. We had a wide variety of attacks and combinations, but really the enemies didn’t encourage you to use them. People found two or three movements they liked and repeated them over and over again. In the new game, we have made major changes to such parts and raised the bar in the fighting system”
