It hasn’t even been two weeks since Elden Ring broke the speedrun record to less than 19 minutes. That record was set with version 1.02, as various glitches were avoided with the 1.03 patch, but players were confident that the legendary speedrunner Distortion2 would perform similarly with 1.03.
And what do you think Distortion2 did? Using the game’s glitches and mechanics incredibly creatively, he managed to lower his own speedrun record to less than 9 minutes. With version 1.03!
You can watch the video below of the record that Distortion2 broke last night and you can try these techniques if you want 🙂
As you can see in the video, it is very likely that an error-making speedrun lap will go below 7 minutes. Maliketh spent more than a minute trying to trigger his zip glitch in his fight. At the end of the game, he again failed to pin the zip to get into Godfrey’s arena and had to leave the game and re-enter. If he makes the whole round perfect, there’s a real chance of some incredible times.
In the first interpretation of the video, Sketchy explained the techniques used and why, and I suggest you read it.
