The Witcher 3 next-generation update was originally scheduled to be released in the second half of 2021. However, Cyberpunk 2077 and Witcher 3 next generation updates were delayed until 2022. And there’s news of a reprieve right now.
The Witcher 3 next generation update is being delayed indefinitely
CD Projekt Red announced that it has indefinitely postponed the next-generation version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and will no longer release the upgrade in the second quarter.
We have decided to have our in-house development team conduct the remaining work on the next-gen version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. We are currently evaluating the scope of work to be done and thus have to postpone Q2 release until further notice. 1/2

“We have decided that our in-house development team will carry out the remaining work in the next generation version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt,” a recent Tweet on The Witcher’s official Twitter account said.
He added: “We are currently assessing the scope of the work to be done and therefore we need to postpone the 2nd quarter release until further notice. We will keep you posted as soon as possible. Thank you for your understanding.”
CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077, which we started hearing more often about postponement news, was also postponed several times before its release. Although the next generation version of The Witcher is currently facing delays, the new game in The Witcher series was recently announced.
