Last week, Sony added new additions to the banner image it uses on its PlayStation Studios website, including death stranding’s protagonist Sam Porter Bridges on the far left. Hideo Kojima also posted this image on his official Twitter account, with the PlayStation Studios logo on it.
Naturally, the players who saw it gathered two to two to reach four conclusions: Kojima Productions was on Sony’s purchase list, and the studio would join PlayStation Studios.
But then, probably when that message became big news, Kojima poured water on the rumor that he had inflamed himself, saying: “I’m sorry for the misunderstanding, but KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS is and will continue to be an independent studio”
Kojima even retweeted his previous image tweet while doing so 🙂
When it comes to Kojima, it’s hard to tell why you’re doing it. We know he likes to confuse his followers and do mysterious things. Maybe there really is such an initiative (by Sony) but he doesn’t want to explain it already, so could he.
At least for the moment, we’ll have to believe that Sony’s banner change is just a coincidence.
