Masters Reykjavik was remembered for its surprises from the very first moment. Fnatic and KRÜ Esports threw in the towel before reaching the playoffs with scores of 2 – 0, while LOUD from Brazil and Paper Rex from Southeast Asia were able to steal the spotlight from experienced teams.

Paper Rex was one of the most self-made teams in the tournament, with Jason ‘f0rsakeN’ Susanto using the revamped Yoru for the first time to dust things off. Viewers who had previously witnessed the ups and downs of the Japanese Duel loved the Indonesian actor.

Japanese team ZETA DIVISION also accompanied its Asia-Pacific representative comrade at the top of the rankings. Despite beating Team Liquid from EMEA, DRX from Korea and Paper Rex on the way to the semifinals, he could not hold on to the power of OpTiC Gaming. However, VCT followers around the world will not easily forget the impact shota ‘SugarZ3ro’ Watanabe and Tenta ‘TENNN’ Asai had on Masters Reykjavik 2022.

Another name that followed in the footsteps of this surprise team of the East was LOUD, and the team was able to make its name with its powerful voice. Team Liquid stunned onlookers by smashing G2 Esports and OpTiC, while Erick ‘aspas’ Santos was at the forefront and made a significant contribution to his team’s exit from the top group and reach the finals. There was a battle waiting for them to fight optic again, the giants of VALORANT once again fought.

Unfortunately, things didn’t go as the team had hoped this time. He didn’t get a game from north America’s leading team, all the rounds on all the maps kept going back and forth, but they all ended up with an OpTiC win. Jimmy ‘marved’ Nguyen in the battles of Ascent, Bind and Breeze; Brimstone used Chamber and Omen very well to give his team a clear win.

With this win, OpTiC won the Masters Reykjavik trophy and VCT 2. He’ll be everyone’s target in Phases. Will he be able to win the Masters 2 trophy? Time will tell.
