Activision continues the bizarre nomenclature in the Call of Duty series. This year’s Call of Duty will be released by Infinity Ward; Infinity Ward has shared both the game’s name and logo.
This year’s Call of Duty is called Modern Warfare 2!
I know what you’re thinking, modern warfare 2, or call of duty 6, as it’s unofficially called, was released in 2009. Activision has once again gone back in naming, and this new game is called Modern Warfare 2.
Modern Warfare had the same name as Modern Warfare in 2007, as you know. But at least last time, the name Call of Duty: Modern Warfare was used, which prevented it from mixing with the name “Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare”. But this time, both the old game and the new game are called Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
So the next game will be Modern Warfare 3 again. Then we’ll go back to the beginning of Advanced, Infinite, 🙂
