Nikkei Asia has released a new report on Nintendo Switch sales. Nintendo reportedly expects to sell 20 million Switch consoles in the current fiscal year.
The 20 million sales figure is indicative of a 10 percent decrease compared to fiscal year 2021. In addition, 28.83 million Switch consoles were sold, a 30 percent decrease from fiscal year 2020.
Switch consoles’ low sales in the current year are due to ongoing semiconductor shortages and logistical disruptions.
Nintendo will release its next quarterly earnings report, which ends March 31, 2022, on May 10. To compensate for low hardware sales, Nintendo wants to sell more games.
