In May 2020, the acclaimed game documentarian NoClip was the subject of a new documentary, Ravenholm, about Arkane;’s cancelled Half-Life play Ravenholm. NoClip has now posted a different video from the same game, sharing an hour-long gameplay image.
Ravenholm was a Half-Life 2 game that Arkane, known for legends such as Dishonored and Prey, was developing. Arkane shared prototype versions of the game with Valve in 2007, but Ravenholm was cancelled when Valve was not keen on implementing it.
The video below also includes prototype sections created by Arkane at the time. Gameplay mechanics, enemies, weapons are of course way behind what will happen in the final version of the game, but it’s still a useful video to see the vision in Arkane’s mind.
