Psyonix announced in a spectacular (!) statement that Rocket League is bringing back voice chat. With the upcoming update as of May 9, voice chat, which hasn’t been with us since patch 2.04, will be back. But this time voice chat comes with new features.
Looking forward to not seeing another comment about voice chat…

Of course, the standard speech feature will be active at any time. Headset will be the only requirement to use this feature. You will be able to chat on any channel by joining Party Chat and Team Chat channels. You will have access to these channels from the main menu section and you will have the opportunity to change channels during the game.
Talking players will be able to see each other’s names in a similar way to Discord’s in-game interface. You will be able to silence players you don’t want from the game screen, or even turn off active voice chat completely if you want.
Underneath Psyonix’s tweet announcing the announcement, discussions have already begun. Let’s see if voice chat will ever leave us again.
