One of yesterday’s most intriguing stories was the Shepard leak about the new Mass Effect game. “As Shepard and the survivors try to heal their wounds…” and that was quite confusing.
This sentence was amended shortly and the name Shepard was removed. But of course, it became a question of whether it was a mistake or an unwitting leak.
If we can see Shepard in the new game, it will mean that one of the end of Mass Effect 3 is accepted as a canon. This will mean ignoring the stories of the players who finished the games by making other choices, of course, not only the end, but also the events leading up to that end. I don’t know if Bioware’s going to get under a ball like that. Because rest assured, in such a case, the new game will be showered with criticism even before it even begins, and then it will be hit by scrutiny bombardments.
Michael Gamble, the game’s project director, posted on Twitter after the revelation that it was a mistake.
“The original text was written by people who run the store and are not familiar with the game,” he said, putting a smiley face at the end. So just that emoji can cause this message to be drawn to different places, and I’m sure Gamble knows that very well, 🙂
We’re a long way from seeing the new Mass Effect game, and until then, there’s going to be a lot of speculation like that.
