Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa has made several statements about the shortage of semiconductor chips. He stated that this shortage will not end anytime soon, it will continue to negatively affect the production of the Switch console and this shortage is not the end.
Meanwhile, the sales figures for the Switch console were announced the other day. Nintendo has sold 107.65 million consoles since its release. It delivered 23.06 million Switch consoles to its receiver in the 12 months ended March 31, 2022. This was 28.83 million units in the same period of the previous year.
Nintendo estimates that 21.0 million Switch consoles, as well as 210 million games, will be sold in the fiscal year ended March 31, 2023. If Nintendo proves correct in its forecasts, it will reach sales of 128.65 million Switch consoles and 1.03 billion games in March 2023.
