The other day, gameplay videos for the 2001 E3 version of Duke Nukem Forever were leaked. Unfinished and full of errors, this version still looked visually quite beautiful, especially considering what a flop Duke Nukem Forever we saw in 2011.
The person who leaked this version on 4Chan said they planned to release the game in June, but apparently stopped being patient. Unreal Editor, which is used to create a game map, is available for download via the Internet Archive , along with its source code and executable files (and a full copy of the 4Chan title).
It’s worth remembering that this is a version that should not normally be in the hands of players, so it’s not easy to run and make it completely playable.
Apogee founder Scott Miller said of the version: “It looks like someone leaked the Duke Nukem Forever version in 2001. Those who expect a playable game from this will be disappointed. The great trailer for the game at the time certainly overestimated what was really playable in the game,” he said.
