Last week, the Swedish-based company Embracer acquired several studios within Square Enix, including Crystal Dynamics, Eidos Montreal and Square Enix Montreal. This sale includes the rights to more than 50 games such as Tomb Raider, Deus Ex, Thief, Legacy of Kain.
Following this acquisition, Square Enix made a new statement. Among the statements is that the company will invest in blockchain, artificial intelligence and cloud technologies and that new studios will be established and purchased.
Square Enix stated that new IPs will come and will merge with new studios in the future. As new acquisitions and mergers take place, it will also expand its gaming portfolio. In addition, Just Cause announced that it will continue to release series such as Outriders and Life is Strange.
On the other hand, the president of Square Enix said last month that the company’s Japanese studios should not try to make games specifically aimed at western players.
