When we started counting Netflix’s original content to attract members, the name Black Mirror was definitely included in those sentences. But it’s been almost three years since the last season of Black Mirror, and in the meantime we’ve entered a whole new world. How Black Mirror-esque this new world is is debatable. But now almost nothing is like three years ago… Netflix will have realized that it has rolled up its sleeves for a brand new Black Mirror series. Finally, the series, which passed away with the fifth season, is preparing for its sixth season.
First of all, with the news announced by Variety, we had the chance to learn the first details about the new season. It seems that Netflix is planning a much larger project. Far beyond the fifth season, each episode of the sixth season, which promises more episodes and longer screen time, will have the consistency of a feature film. The budget allocated to the series seems to rise in parallel. For the current rights to the series, there is a deadlock.

Charlie Brooker, the original series creator, and his partner Annabel Jones had left their former production company, House of Tomorrow. Not many positive things have happened for Black Mirror in the intervening period, so it is long overdue to see a new season. Finally, it seems that Netflix has finally reached an agreement with the Bnijay company, which holds the rights to Black Mirror. It is not exactly clear how the creative steering wheel of the new season will be shaped, but it is pleasing to see that there are concrete developments. No official announcement has yet been made for the sixth season.
